Less Like Office Space, More Like Awesome!!!!

I DID IT! I quit my job! Well... kind of. I told the VP and the girls I work with that my last day would be May 29th. Granted that is a month away, but I actually did it! And I did it for the most selfish reasons. I want to do nothing. I want to do only things I want to do. I want to take sewing classes and practice on harnessing my craft. My creative juices. I want to be a designer and I'm young enough that I don't have to be stuck in a job I hate. I still have time to do what I'm passionate about! I am going to miss some of the people here. Although I could not have been more different from the people here, I have really enjoyed working with a handful of them. But, I'm free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel free to post your "Congratulations!" and "Its about fucking time" in the comments.... hahaha

Things I Shouldn't Be Buying But I Already Did

I've done some purchasing lately that is completely inappropriate and unnecessary but don't you ever feel the need to splurge?? I had it bad last week, yet I did manage to control myself from purchasing the $80 heels from ModCloth.com or the $150.00 boots from Urban Outfitters. Instead, I concentrated my efforts on finding stuff for my upcoming Key West trip (18 days!!!). Warning: when seeing swimsuits, don't picture me in the swimsuit. I would hate to make anyone ill.

I actually ordered these two shirts from HotTopic.com because I think I secretly yearn to be a 16 year old boy? I honestly think the first shirt is cute: above the tuxedo ruffles is a bow tie that is hard to see in the picture. Now, I'm not a huge fan of this vampire rage that's been circling the globe but I thought this shirt was a lot of fun. "Love At First Bite" Its dirty and provocative. Also, that model is hott! If I could pull off a chest piece and bleached out hair I would totally do it but I think I would end up sending out stronger lesbian vibes than I already am (Note: I'm not gay, but have been hit on by women many times).
I ordered this suit from Target.com but got a notice saying it wouldn't be shipped until AFTER I had already left for Key West. Today though I received an email basically saying Target.com is a big fat lying slut and had already shipped it. Unfortunately I didn't get receive this email before I panicked and wound up purchasing this monstrosity:
Its from Venus.com and I'm pretty sure its a website for hookers and strippers. I mean, seriously? Look at the model. There is no reason she should look so sensual and mid-orgasm in public while wearing this hideous suit. I wonder if I can return it??
I finally bought another pair of black leggings (AmericanApparel.com) after sadly trashing my previous pair. I went through a short phase in which I thought I might have been able to pull black running pants (the kind with neon zippers and a pocket on the butt. You know, for all your important documents you must carry while running) off as regular black leggings but the unnatural sheen to the running pants would have surely given me away as a total fraud.
I don't know why I ordered the "mint" colored leggings. I wanted to get another pair of leggings and I couldn't just pick a normal color. I'm afraid these are going to be completely see through.
I came really close to buying this Wolverine shirt from HotTopic.com with the intentions of putting my ever growing interest in comic book characters and superheros on full display. Maybe if they had a shirt with Superman on it I wouldn't have passed. The story behind the creation of Superman is actually incredibly interesting and scandalous. If you're also harboring a superhero fetish, check out the story of Superman. Its a good one.

I'm Not An Environmentalist, I'm An Earth Warrior

HAPPY EARTH DAY! Here are three easy tips to becoming more environmentally conscious that I picked up at Power Shift last year: Change THREE light bulbs in your house to CFLs, Turn up (or down depending on the season) your thermostat TWO degrees, and Unplug ONE appliance you don't use often (hair dryer, cell phone charger, lamps you rarely use). Because it is such a special beautiful day, I've decided to post the pictures I meant to post two weeks about in celebration! What a way to celebrate right? The pics are from TT's house warming party (see "Partysaurus Wrecks") and looking back on the pictures I can see how much fun I don't remember!

I haven't updated anything of substance lately because I spent last weekend in WV with Chris and Dave. There is no cell phone reception, no Internet, just us and nature. Its great and beautiful, but I can only stand it for about a day. Longer than 24 hours and I start to go a little cabin crazy. BUT we did come home with a surprise from WV:
A Brand New Dog!!!! His name is Doc but we're trying out second names: Doc Beau, Doc Boone, Doc Holiday, I like to just call him The Doctor. He is about 7 years old and came from a rescue group my Mom is involved in. Before that he was used for hunting at a club but I guess he wasn't any good at it because they treated him like shit and got rid of him. He's sweet and gentle and cuddly and within 30 minutes of having him he had already curled up in my lap (although he is wwaayy too big to be a lap dog) and fallen asleep. He's just presh.

Anyways, TT Bonanza!!!
After much deliberation I assembled an outfit worthy of Rainbow Bright Status. I just wish I had the rainbow moon boots. Self tye-dyed tank layered under an H&M green tank, Target white cropped sweater, paired with Express black jeans, and the sandals I had to wear even though it was far too cold. The sandals zip up the back but they kind of hurt when I do zip them so I spent the whole night drunkenly sliding around in them unzipped. It was only kind of effective.

Apparently it was "Panda" themed and I had no idea. Well, only Faye and Noe knew. I'm really digging Faye's shirt even if she got a lot of flack for wearing a WWF tank top in a Green Peace house. Its all relative right??? The shape of the shirt is really flattering on her and the combo of chunky, layered, quirky gold necklaces is a great touch. The bling really adds pop and funk to the ensemble. Noe's shirt was sad (panda living on the only tree still standing from a forest that has been destroyed) but it was really funny that both he and Faye had just so happen to wear shirts adorning pandas.
Even in a polka button up, TT's got some sensual seduction. Cute gathered sleeves with a folding effect and waist sash add fun details to this basic button up.
I've become obsessed with pretty much everything TT has furnished her room with including this mirror. It looks like its composed of cork screws or little wooden discs of different shapes that make the mirror contemporary yet functional and versatile. I'm all about it.
At Some point in the night my camera was abducted and abused by random people. I woke the next morning to find dozens of pictures of people I didn't know wearing baskets on their heads and posing for pictures they probably will never see. I'm contemplating deleting most of them even though I hate to delete pics. I did like these two though:
They look like they are about to do something really cool, but they probably weren't.

And to complete the blog worthy pics from TT's, I created a little collection of photos I would like to title "Walk On Sunshine Joyous Dance Montage"

I hope you can actually see the pictures even though they are small because some of them are freaking awesome. The funny part was, no one was dancing before this song came on and then suddenly everyone broke out into dance only for "Walking on Sunshine" as if it is the greatest song of all time. After the song finished we all separated and pretended it never happened...
I've been attempting to watch 7 Pounds while posting and it is not working at all. This is clearly a movie you actually have to watch and not just listen to. I have no idea whats going on and I think its almost over... Woopsy Doodles! There is a really beautiful Great Dane in the movie though. He's my fave character.
I do have a surprise coming to the blog, hopefully it will be sooner rather than later! It all just depends on my determination to actually complete anything in my life.
I hope you all had a lovely and Earth friendly EARTH DAY!!! Leave any new Earth friendly tips you'd like to share in comments. I'm always looking for new ways to defend Earth's honor!

This is the future...

You've gotta check this out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJmCZjB3Y5s

I think this is an amazing idea, but will people begin to think its acceptable to litter if you're throwing one of these bags out your window? That they are in fact helping the environment by irresponsibly throwing their trash around? I sure hope not.

Useless Obsessions

Urban Outfitters is one of those stores that will always be trouble for your bank account. I find it impossible to go in there and not leave without spending at least $50 if you're lucky. Everything is so freaking trendy that the store honestly stresses me out. I want it all! I started exploring the website while at work today and to avoid giving myself an ulcer, I restricted myself to the best section: shoes. They have such a wide selection with incredible designs. But with great items come great prices. I find even their sale shoes are over priced. I'm working myself up to actually buy a pair of boots I've been eyeing for months, but I don't know I can purchase a pair of boots for $120 guilt free (even if that is their sale price). Anyways, here were some of the faves I found that I probs could never seriously wear but am dying to explore:
We Who See Canvas Wrap Wedge. I have this unexplainable draw towards crazy wedge booties. I'm wild for the peeptoe/peepheel combo with the added buckle detail and 5inch wedge.

Shoes For Lovely People Camilla. These sandals look like lobsters and that's why I like them.
Dolce Vita Rayne Heel. With the super-thick-almost-a-wedge heel combined with braided brown leather and a peeptoe, these heels are simply awesome. I love the combo of so many different elements.
Sweet Life By Dolce Vita Caroline Heel. Clearly I have a thing for chunky weird heels. I just like shoes that make you look twice at them. Make someone consider them more than as just a shoe but as an object of lust. I wish I had the will power to wear heels more because I would tots wear these suckers to the bone.
80%20 Canvas Peeptoe. A peeptoe slipper??? The contradiction in practicality is exactly why I love these shoes.
Jeffery Campbell Wrap. I find these shoes very visually pleasing in an architectural manner.

UO Leather Cross Strap Sandal. I like the sizable difference between the ankle strap and toe strap. Also the double buckle.

And finally these: Sioux Beaded Moccasin. I recently had to throw away my moccis and have yet to find a suitable replacement. I certainly like these. Fringe, beads, and drawstrings. Mocci perfection!

I guess my big reason for having immediate ties to these shoe specimens is how completely useless all of them are. They are simply for fun! Not to be taken seriously, and that's what I love.

Peace Out BD

Basement Dave is moving out. I never thought this day would come. He unexpectedly dropped the bomb this morning finally admitting he has BOUGHT a house near World Gate. I'm really happy for him, I'm just surprised. I honestly thought he would be in the basement for as long as my parents are.

Speaking of my parents, they are moving as well. Having just gotten back from a week long trip to South Carolina, they have returned with new dreams. They found a place in Summerville, SC. Their plan is to wait until the summer, propose a bid, if its accepted they'll both retire, sell all their stuff, and move away. Its weird to think about. We've lived in this house for 20 years. Where am I supposed to go when they move? Probs good chance I'll end up following them to SC. It won't be so bad. 20 minutes from Charleston, an hour from the beach, and a short 5 hours from everything I care about in VA. I'm excited for them but its strange to think about things changing so drastically. I don't know it I like the idea or not.

Partysaurus Wrecks

I forgot I had this picture of Jax. She was in town last weekend for a hair emergency and joined Faye, Beats, and Bry at Noodles&Co (my new found glory). She looks like a parsley loving Sam Ron. I dig it.As usual the majority of my week was spent working, watching TV, and contemplating the existence of baby carrots and why they are so good. But I also spiced things up a bit this week. Blanimal came to visit and after a Monday night drunk fest we spent Tuesday at the Natural History Museum downtown. I've been wanting to go for years and never really got around to it. Unfortunately both of us forgot it was Spring Break for kiddies and found ourselves mauled by prepubescent teens all hailing from Butt Cheese, USA. Regardless it was a lot of fun, we literally saw every part of the museum (even the really boring soil exhibit), ate hot dogs from street cars, and developed fake back stories to share with strangers (Blan was from Florida on vaycay and I was from Maine having only moved to DC 3 weeks ago). Anyways, here's some over exposure for the Bliz and Yiz Excellent Adventure:
Blanimal at the metro. I really like this pic. It could easily be an ad for PacSun, but that's my fault and my zip up. I just really like the toggle hooks!
USO (Unidentified Submerged Objects) aka ALIEN! Its actually a giant squid that was like 7,000 feet long. If aliens actually live in the water I would tots believe this is one. Only time will tell. USOs are my new obsession.
Waiting in line for the 3D Under The Sea Imax movie at the museum. So cool! I'm all about under water 3D adventures and this picture of Blan. 3D adventures and anything involving these rad glasses make me happy. I was tempted to keep but thought twice about stealing from a museum.

There is an awesome exhibit called "Orchids through the eyes of Darwin" I think. It smelled wonderful and was really beautiful in there. Highly enjoyable. The Galapagos Islands are pretty much the coolest things ever discovered.

This picture makes me laugh.

So last night TT finally had a house warming party after living in Arlington for like 4 months. It was so much fun I can barely remember anything after 1am. It was def one of those nights where you don't feel like you're ever going to get drunk so you keep drinking and drinking and then WHAM! You're plastered. I do remember a joyous dance party to "Walking on Sunshine". And taking multiple jello shots out of Easter eggs. With a trashcan no where in sight, we decided to hide the eggs around the basement in honor of Easter. Sorria! Some how my camera got passed around the party because I found a bunch of pictures on it of people I don't know. Apparently I had fun! So thanks TT and housemates! I haven't uploaded pics yet, but I'll post the worthy ones later.
Happy Easter everyone!

When I Grow Up, I Want To Be A Fisherman

I've been ranting a lot lately about Jon things, shitty things, and stupid things. In doing so, I realize I sound like a big fat bummer, so its back to fun! Here are highlights from throughout my blogging drought:

Faye and I attempted to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival. That was a mistake. Vienna Metro was lined up to the over pass. Exed the CBF and spent the day roaming Fairfax:
Feeding Geese
We could only find two geese. We probably gave them bloat from too much bread.

Doing my Buffalo thing.I get creative waiting for Faye.Baby Infested Frying Pan Park

We reminisced over old text messages we would get from KC when she worked that that were along the lines of "Sorry I miss your call, I was milking a goat."... "Or driving a tractor."

Piglets... there were dozens!I'm a sucker for Pon Pons.

I have to go buy Incubus tickets and pick Riley up from the kennel now. But I'll be back with more laterz.

The Lazy Bones I'm Living In

I've really sucked at blogging lately. Sorria. I promise I'm going to be better this weekend and post about all the things I have been wanting to say for two weeks now. Lazy has gotten the best of me.

Stupid Things

We all have done and will do an exorbitant amount of stupid things in our life. I did something stupid and I knew it was stupid months before I did it, but I was fine with it because it was my choice. My consequence. My life. I can't justify everything I do because sometimes there is no reason except to fuck around and have some fun. I really don't know what else to say.

I WANT TO BE HER

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2WDcCT3YeM

Shes like a female Mick Jagger. I'm so obsessed with Juliette Lewis and The Licks. I just can't deny anyone willing to run around in full spandex ensembles. LESBIAN HEART BUBBLES

Check this one out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tOJYNwmPt0&feature=related

Its impossible to see me b/c I'm pretty much a midget, but I was one of the people holding her knees when she kneels up! My claim to fame only.

Unleash the Fury

I have freaking been Ms. Social Butterfly this week. Normally from Monday through Friday I want nothing more than to come home after work and curl up on the couch, but this week life had other plans for me.
First on Monday Joyful and I drove to Silver Spring for a birthday dinner for CG. In our attempt to avoid 495, we took a bizarre route that led us through a maze from Alexandria through Georgetown then around DuPont Circle and then to the ghetto. Thank gosh I had Joyful there because I probs would have gotten way more lost than we actually did not to mention the thousands of tears I would have shed throughout the whole ordeal. I don't know what it is but when I'm lost and all alone I immediately begin cussing like a sailor and crying. Its uncontrollable. We made it to dinner safely and had a great time seeing some girls from LC.
Weezer and Joyful, my lovelies
Birthday Baby - CG

Ghost Face Killer - El Deuce
Blackie-O (her words, not mine) - I love the combo of stripes and a herringbone pattern all in the same colors.

On Tuesday, BGav and I went to see Knowing - new Nicolas Cage movie. Honestly, Nic Cage has severely sucked as an actor over the past few years. What ever happened to the guy from Gone In 60 Seconds? That guy got it on with a dread locked Angelina Jolie! He was the shit! And now Nic Cage is a mediocre, balding (yet desperately trying to hide it), veneer wearing, Hollywood wash up. I really feel bad for him. And that movie. It went in a wwaayy different direction than I thought it was going to but I had a lot of fun with BGav making fun of it! Overall, not recommended.

And last night I just so happened to have tickets to a Caps game (Caps! Caps! Caps!) where TT and I mingles with embarrassingly drunk d-bags in front of us and stared longing at these gorg foreigners across the isle. Being that I am a recent Caps fanatic, I get distracted easily. Why is it that beautiful men flock to hockey? I think its all the testosterone being thrown around with every break out fight (there were THREE! It was awesome!). The game was awesome though. Ovi (Heart Bubbles) scored his 54th goal of the season, Mike Green led the Caps to victory in the 3rd period, and I got a little buzzed off of expensive beer.
During a break between periods, TT and I played this little game of "What your face would look like if..."
You got hit in the face with a puck.

You won a free Chipotle burrito.

There were a few more pics, but these were the funny ones. Funniest part of the night: A recognizable face was sitting in the front row and exploited on the jumbo screen. TT: "Oh my god! Its Nick Cannon! Wheres Miriah!?" Me: "That's Jason Campbell. Quarter back for the Redskins." TT: Confused stares. One of the many reasons why I heart TT.
TT, as usual, looked adorable and even indulged me in a "Sartorialist" moment with her as my subject.
I'm all about that coat! When I told her to wear red because it was a Caps game I was secretly hoping she'd wear that coat. I love the feel of like a plaid robe that's gone fashionable with a large folding collar, bracelet length sleeves, and cinched waste.
Overall its been a very fun week, but now its Thursday and I'm exhausted. TGI-Almost-F!!!
