College Football and Male Hoola Hooping

About two weekends ago my friend Zotter was having people over to watch the Ohio State football game. I am not into college football at all but there was going to be free food and beer so of course I showed up. Needless to say KC, Faye, and I spent the entire evening talking to each other, not watching the game, and eating jalapeno cheddar cheese chips. Ohio ended up loosing the the environment got incredibly hostile so we booked it out of there pretty quickly for Union Jacks.
Ohio loosing = Zotter scaring me.

Cute ceramic boot table piece Albert's mom gave him and Zotter... presh. I enjoy the cardinal a lot. I get a holiday vibe from it and it makes me happy.

Albert ruining the cuteness of the boot by drinking dusty beer out of it.

That same weekend Adams Morgan was having their yearly street fair. Faye and I discovered this ad on the metro. Both of us had to stare in disgust for a while at it.

The fair was a lot of fun and I got some freaking amazing elephant earrings by haggling with the vendor. I always enjoy a good haggle.

We saw some people from The Real World: Dupont that they are currently taping. Honestly, I saw the cameramen and couldn't find the cast members because the people I saw didn't look cool (slutty) enough to be on the Real World. So I mostly took pictures of the camera men.

This guy apparently thought the motorchair man was more interesting than RW cast members.

The only people enjoying this girls performance were the dozens of old homeless men leering at her.
Adams Mo Day was a lot of fun and after the festivities Faye, her roommate from school Stephanie, Noe, and I went to get Soutinis at this Asian place. I still don't really know what a Soutini is but they are delish! Even the aloe flavored one was pretty good! Bazaar things are happening...

T-Shirt Bed Sheets

Like many people I had about 50 t-shirts that I couldn't stand to part with but I haven't actually worn any of them in probably years. I'm really trying to minimize my life so I needed something to do with these shirts instead of shoving them under my bed for the next year. I came up with a quilted-like bed sheet idea. Basically I spent a couple hours everyday for two weeks cutting the good parts out of the shirts, pinning them to pre-bought fitted sheet and pillow cases, and then sewing them on. It was much more difficult and took longer than I thought it would but I was very proud of myself when I finished. the pillow cases are double sided and the bedsheets have a patchworky feel to them. I think they are a lot of fun and I experience a sense of accomplishment every time I fall asleep on them.

Sorria!

I want to apologize to anyone who reads this silly little blog. I haven't been there for you lately. I've completely fallen off the blog-o-sphere. It just hasn't been on my mind and I've been lacking the motivation. But I do appreciate the people who consistently check for new updates because your pestering is what keeps me going. I promise I'll get back in the swing of things soon.

In other news, I had a job interview the other day. Part time at a swim/greek clothing shop. It is kind of perfect for me because I will be able to gain experience and learn a great deal while utilizing my background with swim teams and greek life. Perfect right? Hopefully if I get the job I can work there for 6 months to a year while taking classes and then be able to jump to a job at a more specialized boutique. Its taken me months to come up with this flimsy little plan.

I hope you all are having a lovely weekend and don't give up on me yet!

Belt Accessories

I've been working on a lot of DIY projects lately. Here I created belt accessories using clip on earrings and a necklace. I hot glued safety pins to the back of these awesome vintage clip on earrings. Then using the hooks on either ends of the necklace I pinned them to the belt. Really easy and quick to do and I thought the result looked pretty cool! Definitely added some flare.
I also finished my quilted bedsheets out of old t shirts that I will need to post. I'm so proud of them. I spent forever working on them!
